One artwork for the classroom

A new public-domain piece each morning, ready to project or print.

Each morning Morning Masterpiece publishes one artwork from a museum open-access collection, with a short story beside it. It is the same piece for every visitor, and it stays on the front page until the next one.

Project it

Open today’s display view on a projector or a large screen. The artwork is large, on a dark background, with the title, the artist, the date and the museum credit. Use your browser’s full-screen command so the menus stay out of the way.

Any published day works the same way at /display/YYYY-MM-DD. For example, /display/2026-10-08.

Print it

Open today’s page and use your browser’s print command. The print view keeps the artwork, the title, the artist, the museum credit and the story on one page, and leaves out the rest of the site. An earlier day prints from its own page.

Embed it, or fetch it

The embed widget places today’s artwork on a class page you already have. The same piece is available as open JSON at https://morningmasterpiece.com/api/today.json. No key, no sign-up.

Talk about any artwork

  • What do you notice first?
  • What story might be happening here?
  • Which colours or shapes hold your eye?
  • What would you want to ask about this picture?

Stories and facts

The stories are written by an AI. The artwork facts — title, artist, date and museum credit — come from the museums. The images are in the public domain.

One public-domain masterpiece and a short story, every morning.

One artwork, one short story. Free, quiet, and easy to leave.
